Most of us at our prayer day picnic the week before last...spent the day out with a picnic lunch & then prayer vigil walks around the area...an excellent day out! Check out my freind Anj's blog for more pics that I took on this day at whackywhazzo.blogspot.com Enjoy!
A face I painted at the Viking Festival
The view from about 2 minutes walk from the apartment I'm staying at.
Things I've done so far in Iceland:
Swam in a geothermally heated pool.
Attended a Viking Festival—as a Viking(?),would you believe it? (more about that later) While there I Face-painted, witnessed, drank in a Viking restaurant, ate shark & won a Viking soul to the Lord (The most exciting part so far).
Saw ………….. crater/canyon.
Took loads of awesome pitures.
Visited the Perlan dome.
Froze!
Helped teach two 12 Foundations Bible studies (That rocked--I played guitar & learned 2 new songs--YES!!!)!
ICELAND--1st 2 WEEKS!
I'm here visiting my Mom & sister Lisa who are both working & living here. Its been a blast as Iceland is such an utterly different sort of country altogether (although probably not too different for those accustomed to other Scandinavian countries).
I've been here 3 weeks now, but this post is about the first 2 weeks.
Some interesting facts about Iceland:
Apparantly this is a very spiritual country. There are many likenesses in Lord of the Rings that are amazingly similar to Iceland & it seems that Tolkien actually visited Iceland before writing the story.
Icelanders enjoy one of the cleanest environments in the world with clean water & air. They also enjoy a healthy diet of fresh fish, Lamb from quality sheep that eat mountain grass & drink fresh mineral water.
Rekjavik is the most Northern capital city in the world.
There are only 300,000 people in Iceland (!). (Would you believe it?)
All the hot water in Iceland is heated naturally.
During the month of June it never gets entirely dark, as the sunset & rising are within about an hour or 2 of each other.
